Jürgen Ruckaberle
Until age 18, Jürgen played on competitive youth teams in the highest state league competing on the regional and national level in Germany, as well as in international tournaments. From age 18 on, he played for a semi-professional club team in Germany competing in a competitive statewide league leading his team as captain.
Coaching Journey
Jürgen’s coaching career started as a player coach for a semi-professional team in Germany about 30 years ago. While coaching German youth and adult soccer teams, he attended several coaching education courses and acquired a number of German coaching licenses culminating with the German National “B” coaching license in an extensive 8-week training camp with one of the German U-21 national coaches. In 2010 he also acquired the USSF A license in the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. Jürgen also acquired the National Youth License in 2013 and renewed his A-license in 2014.
Here in Eugene, Jürgen has coached numerous teams from U11-U19 competing from local leagues up to statewide premier leagues from 2000- present. He has coached a number of teams for EMFC and is involved in the training of most EMFC teams. Jürgen has been named the Director of Coaching of EMFC in April of 2008.
Other Coaching duties
Jürgen took over the Boy’s Varsity Head Coach at South Eugene High School in 2007 and won the Southwestern Conference title in his first season. South Eugene shared the title in 2009 and won the Midwestern 6a League title every year. He was named the Co-Coach of the Year for the 6a Southwestern Conference in 2007. He was named Coach of the Year in the Midwestern League and Southwestern Conference several years. After his 12th year at South, he retired at the end of the 2018 season. He also coached in the Oregon Olympic Development Program. He also serves as the head coach for the WPSL team Azul in Eugene. In 2019 he was awarded the Competitive Coach of the Year award from the Oregon Youth Soccer Association. Jurgen is the head coach for Lane United FC USL W league team in its inaugural season in 2023.
